Overview
PikuZen is a Chrome extension that helps you write AI-assisted posts, replies and direct messages on X (Twitter) in 42 languages. We want to be clear about what it does with your data, and how little of it there is.
Key point: PikuZen does not collect, store or sell your personal browsing data. AI processing happens in your own browser through ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok. The only external call PikuZen makes itself is license key verification with Polar for Pro subscriptions.
Data collection
Through the extension, PikuZen does not collect any of the following:
- Personal information (name, email, phone number)
- Browsing history or analytics
- X (Twitter) account credentials
- Cookies or tracking identifiers
- Usage statistics or telemetry
If you email us or use the contact form on this website, your message opens in your own email app and we only receive what you choose to send. See Contact.
Data processing
The extension processes the following data locally in your browser:
- Post content: the text of posts you interact with is read from the X page to generate relevant AI replies. This text is sent to the third-party AI service (ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok) that you chose as your provider.
- Post images: if image upload is enabled, images from a post (fetched via
pbs.twimg.com) may be sent to your selected AI provider for context. - Your settings: your preferences (tone, reply count, AI provider, templates and so on) are stored locally using Chrome’s
chrome.storage.localandchrome.storage.syncAPIs. - License key: if you activate a Pro subscription, your license key is sent to Polar’s official API for verification. No personal data is included in this request.
Third-party AI services
When you use PikuZen, post content is sent to your chosen AI provider through its web interface, embedded in the extension’s side panel. These services have their own privacy policies:
Important: PikuZen does not operate its own servers. AI requests go directly from your browser to your chosen AI provider’s website. The only external API call we make is to Polar for license verification.
Subscription and license verification
PikuZen offers a Pro subscription. Purchases are made on Polar’s checkout page, and Polar handles payment and billing. Your payment details are entered with Polar. They never pass through the PikuZen extension, and we do not see or store them.
After purchase you receive a license key. When you enter it in the extension, the following data is sent to Polar’s API (api.polar.sh):
- Your license key
- Your license key activation ID (to identify your device)
No personal information (name, email, payment details) is sent by the extension. Polar returns only the license status. For active Pro users this check runs every 2 hours and when the extension starts.
For Polar’s own data practices, see the Polar Privacy Policy.
Data storage
All data is stored locally on your device:
- Your settings are stored via
chrome.storage.local - Subscription status syncs via
chrome.storage.syncto keep your subscription intact - No data is stored on external servers by PikuZen
- No databases or cloud storage are used
- Uninstalling the extension removes the data stored locally
Chrome permissions
PikuZen asks for the following browser permissions, and only for these reasons:
chrome.runtime.sendMessage.X-Frame-Options and Content-Security-Policy blocks, so AI provider websites can load inside the extension’s embedded frames.Host permissions
The extension needs access to these specific domains:
x.com/twitter.com: to add the PikuZen buttons and read post context from the pagechatgpt.com/chat.openai.com: to load ChatGPT in the embedded AI panelgemini.google.com: to load Gemini in the embedded AI panelgrok.com: to load Grok in the embedded AI panel and pick up generated repliespbs.twimg.com: to fetch post images for AI context, when image upload is enabledapi.polar.sh: to verify Pro license keys
Data retention
PikuZen keeps data only as long as it is needed to work:
- Your settings (tone, templates, provider preferences) stay on your device until you uninstall the extension or reset them.
- Subscription status is kept in
chrome.storage.syncand can persist across reinstalls. It contains no personal information. - Post content is processed in memory only while a reply is being generated. It is never written to disk by PikuZen and never sent to our servers.
- Uninstalling the extension removes the data stored locally.
Your rights and control
You stay in control of your data:
- Review: all stored settings can be viewed in the extension’s AI Settings tab.
- Delete: reset all settings to defaults with the Reset button in the extension, or uninstall the extension to remove its data.
- Opt out: turn off image upload and other features one by one with the toggles in Settings.
- Portability: because PikuZen stores no data on external servers, there is no remote data to export or transfer.
Security
PikuZen follows secure data handling practices:
- Communication with AI providers (ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok) happens over HTTPS.
- License key verification with Polar uses HTTPS requests.
- No data is sent over unencrypted channels.
- The extension asks only for the permissions it needs for its core features.
- A Content Security Policy (CSP) is enforced on extension pages to help prevent code injection.
Children’s privacy
PikuZen is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
